Ok, first off I generally do 97% of all of my automotive work in my personal garage at home. When I'm in a bind or short on time Walt has been my place to go. My first experience for them was a test( I do this with every shop), I sent the car in for an inspection knowing the car would not pass because the windshield wipers needed replacement. About 2 hours later they called and said the car was good to go minus needing the wipers replaced; I asked them how much to replace them and was quoted $19. Boom, honest shop good to know. So over the last several years I have had great experiences. Like any pay for service type of deal....get a quote first. Every time when I drop a vehicle off I know within a 10% differential what I will pay upon picking it up. BUT come on people, lets be realistic........cars/trucks have 1000s of moving parts, things break or other issue arise during the process. If you can't except that.... either wake up from the wonderland you live in OR break out that Huffy and start pedaling around. If you drive a German/foreign car to live that stylish look at me life style.....well be prepare to pay for that life style. You know, you have to pay to play. Don't be mad at the man that has to repair it, you choose to buy it to look cool. Like me, I took my Yukon in last month to have a simple fuel pump replacement to correct a emissions code and faulty fuel gauge reading; I would have done it, but I was short on time. Well upon pulling my gas tank......there was another problem, it was the fuel tank itself. I stopped by they me see the tank and that was it. It needed a tank, so that added some extra cost to the estimate, but its not like the shop can make a gas tank lock down anchors rust. They got the tank, finished the job and I paid the bill. I was happy they were happy and all was good. Look don't go in there like a monster because you had a bad day or because you have neglected your car and now it needs major work. I've dealt with some customers like the ones that leave the 1 or 2 stars or scream "Stay away" we know who you are and the type of person you are.

Thank you for your review and trusting our ASE Certified technicians with your vehicles. We work hard every day to earn that trust and it is nice when it is noticed! We pride ourselves on providing the BEST quality and great value to customers!

Highway Robbery!!! These guy's prices are WAY above what they should be. I just moved to MD and went in for an MD inspection. Their fee for inspection is $109!!! I found out later other places charge between $60-$90 tops! Well, then they did find that I needed all new brakes (rotors, pads, calipers) on my Dodge Ram 2500HD truck. I expected the cost to be high on a heavy duty truck like that but they quoted me a price of $2900!!!! Yes, that is in thousands!!! I asked them repeatedly to show me an itemization of the parts and labor and they hedged and dodged my request and would not provide that information. That just seemed incredibly high so I went somewhere else and got the exact same work done... with a lifetime guarantee... for $1900. How on earth can they justify charging $1000 (yes, one THOUSAND) more than someone else for the same work??!!! That is utterly egregious!!! So if you want to get gauged and grossly overpay go here. If not... STAY AWAY FROM WALT EGER'S!!!!

Ms. Leighton - As the new owner since October, when I saw this review, I wanted to dig deeper. It is simple. We blew your quote! I appreciate your time on the phone and with you moving out of the area, I am sorry we will not have a chance to earn your business back. All the best in your new location!

I went to Walt Eger's maybe 4 times with the most expensive repair being about two weeks ago for about 1000 dollars for a fuel pump. After they inspected the car and figured out what the problem was me and Mike (if I'm remembering his name correctly) spoke at which time I told him I would see if I could supply the pump for cheaper and call him back and they agreed. They had they pump priced at over 400 and I with ease found it for 75 (honesty Advanced Auto had it for over a 100 dollars cheaper and they're not cheaper than anyone). When I called back a couple of hours later they told me that they had a policy change and could no longer accept outside parts because and I quote "that's where they make their money"(even though they agreed to this hours before so when did this "policy change" kick in? at lunch time?). They also informed me that they had already completed the repairs to my girlfriends car because the car was "in the way". When I talked to Mike about how dissatisfied and disappointed I was he seemed very nonchalant and uninterested. long story short I DO NOT recommend Walt Eger's to anyone and seeing as how my girlfriend has the oldest car in America and will definitely need a good mechanic in the area I will be trying a place about a mile away named Coale's next time.

The work they do appears competent, but they are about 1/3 higher in price than other shops. When I questioned a charge, I was given the most incredible line of transparent crap that I actually laughed at the guy for his inventiveness. (Im very automotive/tech savvy). I'm voting with my feet and going elsewhere.

Saw a commercial for this place and all I could do is laugh. Went there about 3 months ago cause my check engine light was on and my car kept stalling. We they said they were "done" I couldn't wait to get it back. I get there and they tell me I need to bring it back because the check engine light was still on and they would have to run another diagnostic. Then I had to pay $1200 for the work they said they did and they didn't fix a damn thing. Needless to say i went somewhere else and they got he job done. People don't be fooled by the garbage commercials you see, this place has no problem ripping you off. If I wanted to get ripped off I would have gone to the dealership. What a garbage place!

I will say that the work that was completed SEEMS to be good so far but what I really hated most about this place is the attitude of the man at the front desk and the price. They overcharge and when I asked about it, the man's response was, and I quote, "We never said we were the cheapest. It's less than you would pay at the dealer." Really? No kidding! That's a no-brainer and quite frankly I don't believe that is all together true. I only went here since it was an emergency situation and I couldn't get my car to my regular mechanic (too far). Walt Eger's saw that out of state tag and took advantage of my situation. They also know there aren't many repair shops in the area. I got a quote from MY mechanic and it was HALF of what Walt Eger's charged! This was for the replacement of the coolant thermostat on my '08 MINI. Also, how many places charge for diagnostics unless they don't get to do the work? They tacked that on, too. Buyers BEWARE!

Needed a 4wheel alignment on my 2009 Volvo XC90. Called the dealer and was given a quote for $129. Thinking it was too much $$ for an alignment I decided to give my business to a small/local shop. Found this place using the RepairPal application. Went to the shop an inquired about what I needed for my vehicle. To my surprise the price given to me for an alignment was $220. That's almost $100 more than the dealer. I left the shop and until this day I can't comprehend their fees. The RepairPal application quoted the alignment between $84 and $107. Who's wrong?

Best mechanic I've visited.
