This really pains me to give a local business 2 stars. I brought my tire in to have a screw taken out and plugged. Obviously my fault for not asking for an estimate, but figured it couldn't be much higher than say a Goodyear or national chain shop which i refuse to use for most cases. Well my bill for a plug and balancing came to $71.45. I called Goodyear they charge $35.00 for the same work. Again i would pay more to use a local company but a $36.00 difference is a bit much. I really gave the extra star to the older gentleman that came out that treated me super nice. Again, SorryI had to write a bad review
Hi Joe - Sorry we were not a fit for you at that price. I know you used the term "plug", but shops don't plug tires anymore. It's against Maryland law. We have to remove the tire, check the inside for any defects around the sidewalls, patch, then re-seal it from the inside and then balance it. Plugging is illegal because if the sidewall is compromised from a nail or object, it is dangerous, so we have to remove the tire to check it thoroughly. Others may do it for $35, but it will be done with a $12/hour part time technician at that price. We do not employ technicians at that level because quality is too important, especially with tires. Done correctly, it is a 35-40 minute job. Hopefully this helps explain our costing a bit better. By the way, thank you for noting Reds being friendly. I am the shop owner and always happy to speak to a customer about their situation. Thanks - Bruce Spencer (410) 519-8445. If I am not here, they will give you my cell.
